Alliances in the Islamic World and Türkiye’s Unifying Role

Statement text
As the Istanbul Foundation for Knowledge and Culture, we welcome the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, as well as the Badr Memorandum of Understanding signed between Türkiye, Qatar, Pakistan, and Indonesia.
We consider these steps, which strengthen trust, solidarity, and the will to act in unison among Islamic countries, to be valuable for the unity and harmony of the Islamic world. We appreciate Türkiye’s unifying role in bringing its brotherly nations together around common goals; we congratulate everyone involved, especially our esteemed President.
Referring to the importance of such alliances, Bediüzzaman Said Nursî, in a letter he sent to the President and Prime Minister of the time regarding the Baghdad Pact, stated the following: “Firstly: I congratulate you with my whole spirit and with complete sincerity, happiness, and joy on your most successful alliance with Pakistan and Iraq, which you have concluded for this nation. I feel in my spirit that, God willing, this alliance of yours is the certain introduction to universal peace and general prosperity among the four hundred million Muslims of the Islamic World.”
Drawing attention to racism, which undermines brotherhood among nations, he made the following assessment in the same letter: “God willing, your most valuable alliance with Iraq and Pakistan at this time will repulse this dangerous harm and will be the means of gaining for this nation and country four hundred million brother Muslims in place of four or five million racists, and the friendship of eight hundred million Christians and members of other religions, who are in extreme need of peace and general reconciliation. I am telling you of this since it is a conviction I feel in the depths of my spirit.”
We pray to Almighty God that these alliances will strengthen Islamic brotherhood, contribute to the development of peace and friendship among members of different nations and faiths, and serve as a means of bringing peace to our region and all of humanity.
