Who are we?
Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture (IIKV)
The Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture (IIKV) is a public-benefit foundation established in Istanbul in 1979. At IIKV we work to counter the global problem of being deprived of peace and security. It is a common human quality to desire peace at different levels: inwardly within oneself, socially with others, politically with other nations, and environmentally with the rest of existence.
In the international arena, many organisations are working towards a safer world through education both in the material sciences and in moral values. IIKV, as an active member of these international organisations, supports the establishment of sustainable cooperation among members of different religions, cultures and traditions through the common values they share.
IIKV carries out academic, social and cultural activities in line with the goals outlined above, such as the following:
• International conferences / symposia / workshops of scholars from different nations and cultures on global problems and their solutions
• National symposia held at various universities in Türkiye and the publication of their proceedings
• Academic workshops that bring together graduate students and leading academics
• Book publications by respected publishing companies
• Academic journals and translations.
• Special workshops as well as study trips to Istanbul and other Turkish cities.
• National and international exhibitions on specific themes. There is a permanent exhibition at the historic Rüstem Pasha Madrasa.
• Providing financial support, to the extent of our resources, to academic research on relevant subjects and to undergraduate students, and we are always in pursuit of forming new collaborations with international organisations.
The Istanbul Civilisation Institute, established within our foundation, carries out training and consultancy work for the global development and restructuring of education systems, particularly in the Middle East, the Balkans, Africa, Europe and the Turkic Republics. In addition, with the support of leading academics from different parts of the world with whom it works, it conducts education-focused research for individuals and educational institutions on possible educational investment opportunities in the region, and publishes reports and analyses for decision-makers. In this direction, ICI has concentrated on curriculum development in particular, as well as teacher training, family and child education, student clubs, vocational education, religious education, art and cultural heritage, and the development of education policies in these areas, and carries out projects and studies to this end.
The 5D Thinking Model, run within our foundation for teachers, school principals, educators and school owners from many countries of the world, is based on the belief that science independent of ideology and the authentic Divine messages do not contradict one another, because both come from the same source.
We provide financial support to academic research on relevant subjects and to university students with limited resources. You can find more information about our activities on our website.
