One of the important principles Bediuzzaman has put forward is “positive action”. For example he says “Our duty is to act positively: it is not to act negatively”.
Positive action is a life perspective based on perceiving everything positively. It is to see the full half of the glass. It is to light a candle rather than to curse at the darkness around. Positive action is the basis to reach the shore of salvation from the stormy sea of life, to overcome hurdles in the marathon of life. Islam teaches the middle path between excess and deficiency. Positive action is the golden formula to follow this middle path.
Bediuzzaman says: “The way of Risale-i Nur is mild, polite and soft speech”. The term qawllayyin is a Qur’anic term. When Allah sent Moses and Haroon (PBUH) to the Pharaoh he instructed them:
“And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allah]”
Positive action is indispensable in every Muslim’s life. Those who act in accordance with this principle always see the positive aspect of life and events. They become repairers and not destroyers, they become correctors and not meddlers, they produce solutions and not problems.
