Call for Applications: 10th International Graduate Conference on Nursi Studies, 28 August-01 September 2019, Istanbul
The Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture (IFSC) organizes annual conferences for worldwide graduate students.
The following graduate students (of Masters and Ph.D) are invited to apply for the conference:
- Those who study the ideas of Said Nursi and the topics covered by the Risale-i Nur books,
- Those who make comparative studies between Nursi and other thinkers (whether Muslim or Non-Muslim),
Additionally in relation to the theses being studied by the graduate students it is necessary that
- Theses topics must have been accepted by the concerning institutions,
- The theses should not have been defended in front of the thesis committee,
- The theses should not have been presented or published in any other academic event or publication,
The conference aims to become a medium for collaboration and exchanges of ideas among students and scholars. Prominent scholars in Nursi studies will chair and comment on the sessions. The conference will last for four days and will have two sessions every day. In each session four graduates will present their theses and sufficient time will be given for discussions. Students are expected to present their theses and make explanations about the subject, methodology, arguments and results of their studies within 30 minutes .
The conference language is fully in English for presentations and discussions.
Air ticket costs of the accepted participants will be funded by IFSC. Participants will be provided accommodation, food and beverages at the IFSC building. There will be social events and tours during or after the conference.
Applications are now open via online submissions to the link (Application Form) until 21 July 2019.
The results of the accepted applications will be notified by 25 July 2019.
