"When I Read Risale-i Nur, I Said ‘I Need This’"

The Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture (IIKV) organized an intensive educational program focused on Risale-i Nur, hosting a group of new Muslims from Colombia. These participants, who were introduced to Risale-i Nur, would undergo a week-long training to better understand the collection and spread the truths of faith when they return to their country.

In the opening session, the participants introduced themselves and shared their stories of coming to Islam and their connection with Risale-i Nur. One of the participants, who had established an Islamic center in Colombia, shared his experience of discovering Risale-i Nur and said: “I was worried about how to teach Islam to my daughter. When I received the Risale-i Nur books as a gift and began reading, I realized, ‘I am looking for this. I need this faith.’ From that moment on, I decided to become a student of Risale-i Nur.”

Hakan, another participant, mentioned that there are two Risale-i Nur schools in Colombia and that around 1,000 people have come to know Islam through these institutions. He emphasized that they maintain continuous contact with them.

IIKV Board of Trustees President Said Yüce, during the opening program, shared that the foundation collaborates with nearly 200 universities worldwide and provided information about the symposia they organize. He also mentioned partnerships with academics from countries like Russia, Ukraine, and France, highlighting special programs for young scholars and introducing new projects.

The meeting also focused on the concepts of "mana-i harfi" and "mana-i ismi" from Risale-i Nur. Yüce expressed that modern educational systems fail to adequately reflect the connection between the Creator and the created, stating, "The formulas are correct, but the one who created them is not explained," underlining this deficiency.
