An international conference on Humanitarian Education was held on October 18, 2018 in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Academics from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Poland, Ukraine and Turkey participated the conference.

Said Yuce, the Executive President of the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture who had visited the Belarusian State University in September, was invited to give a speech at this conference.

He stated that the behaviors of people which resulted in violence and terror were caused by the destruction of both the spirit and mind. He added: “The spiritual wounds that we have are the source of the material damages also.”

Some highlights from his speech:

“Our modern perception of the universe depicts a place that is formed as a meaningless world, that occurred and originated without purpose. Of course, human beings have no special place and meaning in such a realm. If the universe is purposeless, humans also would be described in the form of an entity that lives in an aimless, meaningless and unreasonable way in the world and then eventually vanishes into nothingness. It is this kind of narrative that makes people unhappy.

However, the idea that a human life is designed according to the consent of the Creator, and according to its rights and His Justice will be rewarded with an eternal life - that idea is an important source of happiness.”

"When we look with a true discerning eye at the cosmos we come to realise that every event and matter in the universe has been authored by a Creator, and arranged with Wisdom. We come to realise that there are no flaws or coincidences and that within the ensemble of the whole universe we see the signs of both knowledge and power."

Human beings, through history, have investigated and researched both their world and the universe from the macrocosmic scale reached by means of the largest of telescopes to the electron microscopic scale of the sub-atomic realm. Such investigations have resulted in growing astonishment at the level of perfection in which the universe is organised. Bediuzzaman explains the truth of the words "I'm left tired and the search for flaws are in vain":

Order and regularity is proof of a certain perfection. Thus the order of the universe is a witness to the Unity of the Creator.

Nursi states that "There is no village without a headman. No needle without a craftsman or owner. No letter without a writer.
How can such an orderly and regularly administered country have no ruler or owner?"

"The syllabuses of our education systems should really change the language and perspective that they adopt when looking at the world. It would be good for them to say that 'All things have been arranged with absolute Wisdom and Power". The words 'developed', 'created', 'arranged', and 'executed' imply an agent and designer who lies behind all existence and behind each event in the cosmos."

Following the presentations and talks, the officials from Belarus State University and the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture met together after the conference in order to share their thoughts about the importance of future co-operation.
