A group of scholars representing our Foundation have travelled to Indonesia following their trip to Australia as part of their collaborative academic tour.
The first event - an international seminar titled "Said Nursi's Legacy for the 21st Century Muslim World" - is being held in Jakarta on the 15th of July at the Institute for Study of Islamic Thought and Civilizations. The moderator of the event is Dr. Syamsudin Arif. The Executive President of the IFSC, Said Yuce will present the opening talk on the issue of global security from an "Iman" perspective. Prof. Dr. Alparslan Açıkgenç will present a lecture titled "Spiritual dimensions of human beings As The Model of Social Life in Nursi's Thought"followed by Dr. Ahmet Kayacik's presentation on "Belief and Maturation of the Human Being in the Modern Age According to the Thought of Said Nursi". In the evening there will be a study circle of Qur'an and reading of the Risale treatises with students from the local Jakarta "medreses".
On the second day (16th July) there will be an international conference at the Syerif Hidayetullah State University in Jakarta, titled "The Perception of Personal, Social and Global Security from a Faith Perspective". Professor Dr. Amany-Lubis, the respected rector of the university as well as IFSC Executive President Said Yuce will give their opening speeches. Prof. Dr. Alparslan Açıkgenç will give a talk titled "Understanding Positive Action: Said Nursi's First and Last Lesson", Dr. Osman Yapar presents his talk "The Importance Of Islamic Education In The Light Of Modern Problems and Opportunities", Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kayacik will speak about the issue of racism and partisanship as an impediment to social harmony and how Nursi's perspective tackles it, and Umaral Faruk Abubakar will speak on "The Role of Faith in Achieving Safety" from the perspective of the Qur'an and Nursi's thought. After the conference there will be a dinner to be attended by representatives of the IFSC as well as staff from the university.
On the 17th of July an international seminar will take place at the Darunnajah Medrese in Jakarta titled "On Qur'an as Foundation of Islamic Education". The opening speech will be given by Said Yuce on "Concept of Qur'an in the Risale-i Nur" followed by Prof. Dr. Alparslan Açıkgenç speaking on "Man and the Universe in the Qur'anic cosmology". Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kayacik will speak on "Nursi's Education System: The Madrasat Al-Zahra", Dr Osman Yapar will give a presentation on "Qur'anic Education For Our Age - Fundamental Principles", and Dr. H. Busthomi Ibrahim will present a talk on "Qur'an and Science". Certificates of attendance and participation are to be awarded to those present in the seminar. In the afternoon the IFSC team travel to the city of Palembang.
The fourth day of the trip (18th of July) will take place at the Ittifaqiyah Qur'anic Science Academy in Palembang. Here there will take place several talks, with the opening by Said Yuce on "Bediuzzaman Said Nursi's Qur'anic Exegesis", and with Prof. Dr. Alparslan Açıkgenç, Prof.Dr. Ahmet Kayacik, and Dr. Osman Yapar presenting talks that they previously gave elsewhere during the Indonesia trip.
The fifth and final day of the trip will include a visit to the Raden Fatah State Islam University in Palembang with a meeting with the rector in order to hopefully secure further collaborative efforts and committments.

The International Unit of İİKV Explained Risale-i Nur at the Qadiri Gathering in Gambia
Representatives of the International Unit of the Istanbul Foundation for Knowledge and Culture (İİKV) attended the traditional annual gathering of the Qadiri community held in the African country of Gambia. As part of the program, the İİKV delegation came together with Sheikh Muhammad Gilani, one of the descendants of His Holiness Abdul Qadir Gilani and one of the most important spiritual leaders of the Qadiri path today. In the gathering, which took place in a spiritual atmosphere, various lessons and dhikr circles were conducted.
