Katre International Journal of Human Studies

Katre International Journal of Human Studies is an interdisciplinary, scientific and refereed journal which is published twice a year by the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture in June and December. The journal can be accessed both electronically and in print.

Its aim is to create a scientific platform and develop a common language with reference to Risale-i Nur books for discussions on issues concerning humanity and existence and in humanity's search for truth. With this common language, it tries to describe and evaluate the universe, the beings in it and life as a whole and it tries to establish a holistic education instead of teaching science and religion as two different and irrelevant disciplines. In other words, it advocates an approach that harmonizes and integrates scientific and religious knowledge.

Katre features a range of articles that cover the spectrum of the humanities (i.e. in the fields of History, Culture, Art, Economic and Administrative Sciences, Philosophy, Religion, Education, etc) and which comprises original research articles, symposium and seminar papers, applied studies, translations and important book reviews.

Since the beginning of 2016, the articles of the authors were accepted via e-mail and the refereeing procedures were carried out in the same way until the 6th issue of Katre. But following this edition Katre's editorship, arbitration, peer-review and all other operations began to be conducted via the standardized online Turkish Dergipark platform. It has been a challenging task to publish Katre and maintain its quality through this platform. Everyone from the author to the referee, from the editor to the designer have undergone a lot of effort in accomplishing this difficult job.

Since the 9th issue, the journal started to become implemented within both the APA citation system as well as the ISNAD index of Turkish journals, a standard which has been advancing rapidly in social and humanity sciences and particularly in theology. Fulfilling the publication process of Katre in Dergipark and making the source and citation system in accordance with ISNAD will ensure that the sources and citations of the articles to be published in the journal are written in a certain order and will be easily scanned by national and international indexes and databases. The follow-up process continues for the journal to be scanned in the TR Index. The articles published in Katre have already been scanned and indexed by Theology Citation Index, DAVET and SOBIAD Index.

The last issue of Katre was published electronically in the online Dergipark system in August and thus made readily available to readers. As in the previous issues, the magazine published in this issue was sent to the libraries of the State and Foundation Universities, the National Library and the Presidential National Library and the Dean's Offices of the Faculties of Theology. Thus, it is aimed to ensure that all academicians, researchers, students and readers access our journal's articles.

We understand from the growing number of downloads of Katre articles made through DergiPark, that the members of the academic community continue to show great interest in our journal. The total number of downloads of Katre articles was 69,580 as of January 1, 2020, while this number became 94,550 as of September 1, 2020. In the 9th issue of Katre there are seven research articles, one in English, one symposium paper, one book review and one article translation. More contributions from international researchers, including those written in the English language, will assist our journal greatly.
