The Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture hosted the closing ceremony of the international “People, Society and Religion: The Risale-i Nur Perspective” conference on the 22nd of October. Academics and professors from three Bangladeshi universities as well as many other attendees received certificates and awards from the Chairman Of The Board Of Trustees Mehmed Nuri Güleç and the Executive President of the IFSC, Said Yuce.

Certificates were also awarded for participants in the “Risale-i Nur” education programme between the 15th and 24th October, 17 of which were given to scholars and students from Bangladesh and 10 to attendees and scholars from Indonesia.

Said Yuce stated that the Foundation has been honoured to host such valuable scholars from both Bangladesh and Indonesia and that their contributions have been very valuable. Mr Yuce stated that in sharing such knowledge with these scholars, the Islamic injunction of “Divine Council” has been implemented and thus a sign of Islamic Brotherhood has been witnessed by all participants.

Said Yuce also stated:

“As you know, our world currently experiences many material and spiritual problems that impact both Muslims and the rest of humanity. Our greatest mission today is to present to the world, in the most fitting and appropriate fashion, the universal message and healing guidance of the Qur’an that has been carried by our Noble Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who is the Mercy Of The Worlds that was sent by God Himself to help alleviate the problems of our world.” Mr Yuce then explained the intent and purpose of Bediuzzaman Said Nursi’s ideas and methodology:

“We believe that Bediuzzaman Said Nursi approached this task by employing the most beautiful ways and ideas. He presented to us, from the pharmacy of the Noble Qur’an, the principles of 'Belief through investigation', 'Observation of things as Indications beyond themselves (manay-i harfi)', 'Winning God’s Pleasure', 'Spiritual Jihad and Positive Action', as well as 'Brotherhood, Affection and Unity'. These principles and approaches are designed to bring peace and harmony into the heart and mind of man as well as society and will influence man’s worldly and eternal life.

As a Foundation, our goals are to explain the works of the Risale-i Nur to humanity on both a national and international level. Amongst such works are included conferences, seminars, symposiums and meetings that we carried out in February of this year in Bangladesh at Dakka University. We also visited the Hz. Muhammad (pbuh) Institute and the Office Of Religious Affairs of Bangladesh among other institutions. Indonesia also has been a country that we have managed to begin such useful and beneficial projects."

The rector of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman gave a short speech in which he expressed his appreciation for the hospitality and kindness experienced during his stay here in Turkey. He expressed his enthusiasm and great appreciation for learning the useful views and principles of the Risale-i Nur that pertain to humanity and society. He also stated his wish to pursue similar activities in his own university and to incorporate the principles and ideas of the Risale-i Nur and Nursi in the curriculums and various departments.

Following the speech, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mehmet Firinci, Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammed Akhtaruzzaman, Executive President of the IFSC Said Yuce, Ahmet Tanyeli and Professor Dr. M'amun Jarrar awarded the participants and attendees with certificates.
