Assalamu Alaykum everyone,
In the last seven years, I have dedicated myself to studying Islam with a theoretical reference to the Contemporary Socio-Anthropological Theory.
In the meantime, I have learned a lot from Muslims; however, the learning I most admire is about the importance of thanking people. Because those who do not thank people do not thank God.
Thanks to the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture, that they have given us the possibility to know Said Nursi’s works better and start a rich debate about him and his writings at the University of Sao Paulo in 2015.
As you know, Bediuzzaman devoted his works to fundamental concepts of the Qur’an.
Among these the most important one is Tawheed – the oneness of God – as well as to elucidating the truths inherent in the Qur’an in order to rescue and strengthen the Islamic faith. Another important point in his writings is that the human being is a vicegerent on earth and as a comprehensive species, one can find the index of the universe in it.
Furthermore, he points out that humans are the final and the most complete fruit of the tree of the universe and its smartest being.
However, Nursi also points out strongly that humans who do not know their Owner, suffer from desperation. We can see that the special condition of human beings is not constant, it must be maintained day-by-day, through the primacy of belief in God in their earthly lives, as elucidated in this passage from the Koran:
We have certainly created man in the best of stature;
Then We return him to the lowest of the low,
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted. (Surah At-Tin, [95:4-6])
May God guide us and enrich our discussions.
